MoneyControl - Income and Expense tracker App Reviews

No even worth your time. You can only add 3 bills at most before it tells you to upgrade & not allow you to really see what this app can do. Not going to upgrade, so looking for another app in store.

You’ll have to learn this app by trial and error and it may or may not do what you want it to do. There are no tutorials and no response from support.

Once you create multiple recurring entries, the performance of the program suffers. It also lacks an easy-to-enter interface for recording new transactions. I would like to see a simple text box for entering a payee, much like a checkbook register would use. Having to create a new “person” every time I want to add an entry is just nonsense. However, the program looks nice and does have some valuable charts. Improve on these few things and this will be a 5-star app.

Downloaded the app and have been using it between Mac and iOS, love it so far, just have two qualms. The Mac app crashes everytime I make an adjustment in the settings, like adding a categroy or group. Click done and it crashes. The only thing that could make it better beyond that, is if the reports could deliver detailed expenses for a selected group, not just the general category amounts. Other than that, love the app and am using it daily for my small business.

So far I like the simplicity of the app to quickly visualize how my money is being spent each month. Only issue right now is that it keeps crashing every time I use it. How do I solve this problem?

It’s EXACTLY what the traveling independant employee needs. No more keeing up with receipts and forgetting to record transactions. Just snap and record all your reciepts on the go and sync with the Mac app. Beautiful!

Program was working great till the last update. now it does not even open, it crashes immediately

I have looked for a long time for a simple, low cost app to keep track of personal finances. This one seems to do the trick. Pros: Simple interface; No subscription fees for premium features; Practical ‘budget feature that helps you see how much money you have left to spend for the month (Very useful for controlling your expenses, but you may need to read the online help files to understand the way it works); Can sync with iOS devices. Cons: Dropbox syncing must be initiated manually on both devices (a bit awkward); The UI on the Mac is not as streamlined or nice as the iOS UI; The receipt function (an optional premium feature purchase) doesn’t automatically backup the copies of your receipts, making the feature unreliable. Also, don’t expect an advanced accounting program that will automatically update your banking transactions via internet with your bank. This is a simple app for controlling your budget, without a lot of fluff. In all a nice, practical app! Could be 5 star with a little work.

Not incredibly intuitive but once you understan how it works its prett easy to use. Very good supporting and developing team that lives up to customers expectations.

I do like this App.. I agree it needs a little polishing .. But, for the Basic … for a small buinessness It works fine!!

I agree with other reviews commenting that it is okay but needs further improvements. I am looking for a way to track receipts and then compare to Credit card and Bank statements. I currently use a scanner (Receipts) on my mobile devices that scans the receipt. But I am looking for something easier so I installed this app. But this product doesn’t recognize my printer scanner. So I can’t use the scanning / camera option. It provides the ability to assign categories to an expense, but does not provide the ability to have subcategories such Home: Maintenance, Home: Improvement, etc. So I continue to search for other apps. This is fine for simple tracking.

Great for my business as I do not generate invoices. I would however like the ability to print a detailed report of the various expenses in each category, right now it only gives details and not what I put into the notes. Being able to print the notes as well will give this a 5 star rating.

Great basic and simple app. Works well on one device. Crashes on my Mac. Will not sync with iCloud on a second iPad. Have deleted and re-installed, no luck. Developer does not respond to support questions. So, if you want to use this over many devices, don’t waste your time, it does not work.

I use this app a lot to keep track of how much money I bring in and spend. It’s great for budgeting. The only thing that’s keeping this app from 5 stars is the inability to plan expenses for the future.

This is discontinued and will not synch with the iPhone both iCloud and Dropbox. The ony way to back up one device, and restore in another…

This app is by no means the end all be all of budgetting programs, but it’s a step in the right direction to properly budgetting your money. I have used a couple of other programs similiar to these one and none of them have been as simple as Money Control. A must for anyone who wants to start or continue budgeting their money.

One issue I’ve been noticing is this weird bug that sort of round number’s if you make edits. For instance, if I’m adding an expense from 3 days ago and I click the date to adjust it from today to 3 days ago, whatever the amount I’ve entered for the expense is rounded. I love that it’s completely local, relatively simple, and has solid report features (in-app purchase). It would be nice generally speaking if I buy an app on my mac that the iphone app is free, I get it’s a business but let’s not be greedy. One of my biggest pet peeves is there is no alternative views for the top calendars. I open it I want to see a current reflexion of my accounts vs an end of the month view of my accounts sometimes, I should be able to alternate this freely. It confuses me sometimes when I’m seeing my accounts over spent and it’s really not. Anyway good job with this app, let’s make it better now.

I feel this company just stole my money. I upgrade to the premium verision in my APP Store account as Puchased… I enter the APP says that I am limited to 20 entries. This is the Free Verision not the version I paid for with my money. I feel ripped off after trying to reboot, upgrade the APP etc. NO matter what I do, the APP isn’t unlocking. If you only can use 20 entries a month - the APP is great… DO NOT MAKE A PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY!

Could have been easier instruction on how to use the program at first but after some experimenting and a little frustration its good, I would recommend this to anyone.

Simple interface that really aids in tracking what is spent. Future developments should include a budgeting tool and active account management. Realtime account syncing a bonus. Great app.
